Biography

Margit (Klockare) Björklund, born in the little town of Haparanda in the very north of Sweden.

Having left my native Sweden some 20+ years ago I have, since moving to Costa del Sol, chosen to dedicate an ever increasing part of my life to painting and studying art.

In the past, for several years, I worked with batik, ceramics and weaving and after moving to Germany I also learned calligraphy, folk-art- and silk painting. Finally, I feel that I have found my medium in oil painting, which suits me well due to the possibility of keeping the working process open for a long time. I also appreciate the shiny finish and the depth the oil colours give.

In Germany I was lucky to be able to work together with art teachers at the Frankfurt International School on different art projects, which gave me a deeper understanding and openness to all kinds of expressions. I was also fortunate to find time to study the great masters. Art from as long ago as 3000 BC to the modern art of today are sources of inspiration for me.

I find it very stimulating to let the ideas take shape and it is a big challenge to capture and transform the images in my mind to the canvas and to get the colours to sing and the composition to work out. My paintings are a sort of still life where I try to translate feelings into colour and form with a twist of humour.

During the years 1994-1999 I exhibited together with artists from all over the world in Frankfurt. Since 2003 I have exhibited with the group Señoras Pintoras as well as alone on Costa del Sol.

I am a member of A.I.A (Andalusian International Artists) a non profit group which seeks to help and promote artists here in Andalusia. For more information visit the website

I hope you will enjoy and be inspired by my paintings and I would welcome any comments.
